Tickets for Eurostar Snow — the new name for the service that shuttles skiers between London and various French resorts — go on sale from 31 August.

Running every Saturday between 16 December 2023-4 February 2024, the service involves a Eurostar train between London and Lille; then a second, newly-branded, Eurostar Snow train between Lille, and the ski resorts at Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

There's been a Eurostar 'ski train' since 1997, but in recent months, there have been rumblings that Eurostar Group (an alliance between Eurostar and Thalys) had been considering ditching the service, owing to a drop in passengers post-pandemic, and the launch of charter train service, the TravelSki Express. For skiers who prefer to travel by train, Eurostar Snow is good news — though it's worth pointing out that you can also reach some of France's ski resorts by train, with an initial Eurostar from London, followed by a second, non-Eurostar service.

Eurostar Snow tickets will cost between £99-£199 each way, depending on ticket class, and whether it's peak or off-peak ski season. Luggage allowance is two suitcases, one piece of hand luggage and a pair of skis or snowboard per passenger at no extra cost — far more generous than you're likely to get from most airlines these days.

You can book Eurostar Snow tickets from 31 August 2023.
