Summary[edit]

Description

A favourite of mine. The sculpture by Maggi Hambling is called "A Conversation with Oscar Wilde".

It's In Adelaide Street near Charing Cross Station and the Strand; and was unveiled in November 1998. The bronze 'head' of Oscar is supposed to have a cigarette holder; but it was "missing".

Not quite coffin shaped; and it's also a bench!

I took two more photos. <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/53921762@N00/2356468782/">Oscar Wilde #2</a> - the view behind Oscar's head. <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/53921762@N00/2357717408/">Oscar Wilde #3</a> - read the inscription.

"You could come to Scallop when you're miserable and have a conversation with the sea - that's what it's about."
